Hans BrechbühlSenior Consultant

Hans Brechbühl is a Senior Consultant with Brimstone Consulting Group, LLC. Hans has 30 years of leadership experience in business, academia and the military.

Hans is currently the executive director of the Center for Digital Strategies and an adjunct associate professor of business at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. He leads the Center’s outreach and partnership efforts, building relationships with companies such as ABB, Bechtel, Cisco Systems, Eaton, Hilti and Nestlé. The Center focuses on the use of technology-enabled processes to harness an organization’s unique competencies, support its business strategy, and drive competitive advantage, working with and writing for Global 1000 CIOs and their executive colleagues.

For Brimstone, Hans co-led an engagement with General Dynamics, building a dynamic international business development course, and has also worked on change management engagements with CSL Behring, Jones Lang LaSalle and Waste Management. Prior experience as an organizational change consultant was with Tichy/Cohen Associates working in partnership with Coopers & Lybrand on a project for Royal Dutch Shell.

Hans has extensive international experience. He was Group VP of Corporate Development for Metromedia International Telecommunications, leading business development and strategy. As Managing Director of the Davidson Institute, Hans co-directed a $3.5 million independent business education institute focused on emerging markets at the University of Michigan Business School. He built partnerships with Fortune 500 corporations as well as local companies in Central and Eastern Europe and China. He helped develop and ran a program that provided a creative combination of consulting services and educational programs to companies in emerging markets, facilitating transformation to succeed in a market economy. He was also responsible for establishing all aspects of the Institute’s operations during the first years of its life.

In a previous career, Hans served as an officer in the U.S. Army for ten years and led tactical units on the Czechoslovak-German Iron Curtain in Europe for six of them. He holds an AM from Harvard University and a BS in Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He is an alum of the University of Michigan Business School’s Global Leadership Program and the Defense Language Institute’s Russian program, and speaks several European languages. He serves on the board of the Upper Valley Aquatics Center and served on the Boards of Trustees of the Waldorf School of Garden City, NY, and the Upper Valley Waldorf School. Hans lives in Vermont with his wife Ann and their three children.
